Here are some reports from folks using the Ten Zen Seconds techniques. Let’s hear about your experiences, too!
Bob:
“Due to my previous mindfulness meditation training and experience, my initial reaction to this process was one of skepticism. I'd always believed that the solution to the problem of negative thinking was found not in the simple substitution of a positive thought for a negative one but in coming to see the ephemeral and unreliable nature of thinking itself. But after experiencing the Ten Zen Second process, I can see that my viewpoint was too simplistic and too narrow. These affirmations provided me with a twofold benefit. First, the exercise immediately interrupted my thinking patterns and brought me into the present moment. Secondly, it showed me that whereas the typically judgmental, negative thought is almost always a lie, these affirmations are all true. So, this exercise takes us from our stories to reality and from lies to the truth. Powerful effects from such a simple action!”
Leslie:
“I’ve been engaged in self work, in terms of putting together something that will allow me to let go of angry feelings in short order when they arise. I was recently diagnosed with a rare heart condition that demands that I handle my stresses quite differently if I expect to live the long life I have planned. The TZS incantations turn out to be a perfect vehicle for quickly sourcing the emotion underlying the anger and breathing my way to peace. I modified the incantations a bit for now - I am assuming I will tweak and edit them as I employ them. It occurs to me that this could literally be a lifesaver for me.” more
